The club has a professional Head Coach, who is assisted by a team of dedicated volunteer coaches and poolside helpers

The list of our coaching team and their contacts can be found below, along with a short introduction about their vision and ethos on swimming.

Mikey Hire

Head Coach

Mikey is the head coach at City of Hereford Swimming Club. He is currently an ASA Level Two qualified coach with ambitions to professionally develop his qualifications in the short term. He swam to a national level for both Pembrokeshire County Swimming and Swansea Aquatics, during his time at Swansea he was part of the high performance centre.

Patrick Blake

Assistant Coach

Pat Blake is the Assistant Coach of City of Hereford Swimming Club, returning to the club after a number of years coaching at the City of Bristol and Keynsham swimming clubs

Andy Boucher

Coach

Andy has been involved in competitive swimming for over 10 years. He started when his eldest daughter joined the club and wanted to “make a difference”. He is now a qualified Senior Coach (UKCC Level 3) meaning he is capable of delivering a swimming programme that helps swimmers develop and achieve their full potential at whatever level they are aiming for

Roy Barrall

Junior Performance Coach

At present is the lead coach, responsible for the Junior Performance programme at the Hereford site, whilst working closely with the Ross and Leominster coaches to deliver a standardised programme across all sites. He is ASA level 2 Coach in Swimming QCF. Roy still supports the dry side programme, working alongside Steve Hunt in developing and delivering the Land Training programme for the Junior swimmers.

Dave Cash

Water Polo Coach

Dave is an ASA level 2 water polo coach and was instrumental in starting the water polo section of the club in 2013. Since then he has coached junior players to county, regional and national level. Despite being only a small section, Dave has been key in forging partnerships with other clubs and associations to give his players the best opportunity to reach their potential. In 2015 the club joined with Worcester Crocodiles to enter a junior team in the Midland League for the first time.

Wayne Taylor

Volunteer Coach

Wayne is a Level 1 volunteer coach and responsible for the Leominster squads, as well as taking the club and masters session on Sunday's in Hereford and assisting Roy in the Junior Performance session on Sunday's

Anne Thornewell

Volunteer Coach

Anne is a Level 1 volunteer coach for the City of Hereford Swimming Club, responsible for the Academy Squad along with the Head Coach

Charlotte Tully

Volunteer Coach

Charlotte is a qualified Level 1 coach and Level 2 Teacher, responsible for the delivery of part of the Junior Development programme. Charlotte still represents the club in a number of masters events and still holds a number of club records.

Stephen Hunt

Land Training Coach

Stephen Hunt Land Training Coach for 7 years. Covering the following squad’s, junior development, Junior Performance Age Group and Club. Running a Sport England program developing core and stability skills. Designed to improve swimming performance, increase strength, and develop flexibility, plus injury prevention. I enjoy keeping fit and hope to pass on that enthusiasm to the children.

James Cockroft

James is a Level 1 coach and chairman of the City of Hereford Swimming Club.

Duncan Sayce

Volunteer Coach

Duncan is a Level 1 volunteer coach for the City of Hereford Swimming Club, assisting Andy Boucher with the Ross-on-Wye squads.
