Over the last twelve months the club has had to make some very difficult and in some cases contentious decisions, with regards to the future of the club. Since the appointment of Mikey Hire as head coach, supported by Patrick Blake as assistance coach, we have seen significant improvements within the club – which thankfully have justified those difficult decisions.
The improvements both in and out of the pool have been evident for all to see, leading to a much-improved atmosphere and spirit amongst swimmers and members alike.
The original arrangement was for Pat to support the club, until Mikey joins us full time at the end on June this summer.
However, I am delighted that the club executive committee have unanimously decided to retain Pat in the capacity of Assistant Head Coach on a full-time basis. This will bring additional professional capacity to the club, supporting our pursuit to increase both general participation in swimming and also performance. They will both work across all three sites and also develop closer relationships with Halo and the local communities to provide future members for the club.
I am sure you will also join me in thanking Mikey and Pat for the hard work and professionalism that they have brought to the club since joining and I very much look forward to next season and realising the potential of the club.
